Most used skis by Alpine pro skiers

Looking for most used pro skis? We run a database of skiers and their equipment. Looking at the table we get a pretty clear view of brands pro skiers use most. I do not say that using the same skis like Mikaela Shiffrin make you as a good skier as she is. But at least you will get a good feeling that you have the same brand like she.

We looked at the top 50 skiers in Alpine skiing as of 24th of January 2017 as published by International Ski Federation. We calculated the brand numbers separately for men and women just to make totals at the end.

It is really close as there five big brands who compete really head to head. The current winner is HEAD as 11 men pro skiers use their pro skis. Just one point behind standing Fisher and bronze medal goes to Atomic. However, the difference is so close that it can change any day, or after any event. We can say that if you want skis which are used by pro skiers most you can take one of HEAD, FISCHER or ATOMIC.

Safe 4th and 5th place belong to Rossignol and Salomon, they have pretty fine distance from other brands. They are not between top 3, but their place is more than safe.

And then we see five brands, which do not have many pro skiers under the contract. In reality, they have just one or two. However, for example, Nordica has Felix Neureuther (current number 5) and Dominik Paris (number 8), which is not bad at all.

Women Pro Skiers uses mainly Head and Rossignol pro skis. Almost half of top 50 women skiers in FIS ranking use this two brands, with Head taking the lead.

Then we see three strong contenders. Atomic, Fischer, and Volkl are trying to improve their position and break duopoly at the top. Mainly Atomic thinks about the higher position and hopes they will attract more skiers thanks to Mikaela Shiffrin and her recent phenomenal run.

At the end, there are three brands with lower participation. Dynastar, Stoeckli, and Salomon.

Head clearly dominates. It is definitely most used brand between top alpine skiers, men or women, does not matter. If you want to use pro ski, then Head should be your natural choice.

Then we have three brands and the same level. Rossignol, Atomic, and Fischer. Rossignol is stronger between men pro skiers, Fischer between ladies.

At the middle of usage rankings, we have Salomon and Volkl. Salomon is more popular between men alpine skiers, Voelkl between women alpine skiers.

At the bottom of rankings, we have Stoeckli, Dynastar, Nordica, Blizzard and Hart. Not many pro skiers use this pro skis, which does not mean they are lower quality.
