We run a database of skiers and their equipment. Looking at the table we get a pretty clear view of brands pro skiers use most. I do not say that using the same skis like Bjorn Daehlie make you as a good skier as he is. But at least you will get a good feeling that you have the same brand like he.
We looked at the top 50 skiers in Cross Country skiing as of 24th of January 2017 as published by International Ski Federation. We calculated the brand numbers separately for men and women just to make totals at the end.

Madshus and Atomic skis are used just by 5 skiers altogether.The dominance of Fischer probably cannot be bigger between Top men’s cross country skiers. 63 percent of top 48 skiers are using Fischer cross country skis. Salomon and Rossignol are occupying the second and third place, however, their distance from the first and from the fourth is big.

Madshus, Atomic, Salomon, and Peltonen have jointly the same share like Rossignol.The situation in Ladies cross country skiing is almost similar like between men. Fischer is nearing 60% share of top 49 women skiers. Rossignol is safely in second place with 20% share.
Peltonen is a brand with just one lady under the contract, Swiss Nadine Faehndrich.

The number of brands used by cross-country skiers is small. Just 6 brands all together in ladies and men’s top 48 show that concentration is big. It is not easy for brands to compete in this almost oligopoly market.What we saw in a separate table for men and women is confirmed in summary table. Fischer is an absolutely dominant player among cross country pro skiers. Rossignol stands at the second place mainly thanks to the strong position between ladies cross country pro skiers. Salomon due their weaker position on women ski tracks ranks third, with Madshus watching them closely from fourth place. Atomic ranks safely in fifth place, with Peltonen closing the rankings.
